She would not tell you about the knee, or the dizzy spell on the stairs, or that she has not spoken to anyone since Tuesday. Not because she is hiding it — because you are far away and she does not want to be a worry. Aika is there on the days you cannot be, and it does not have to be asked twice.
What Aika actually does
Calls at the same time each morning
Chosen by you, kept to. It becomes part of her day rather than an interruption in it. If she wants a week off, she just says so — and the calls stop until she is ready.
Remembers, and asks again
If her knee hurt on Tuesday, Aika asks about it on Wednesday. Not from a checklist. Because it came up, and anyone who was really listening would ask.
Tells you how she has been
A short call each week: how she sounded, whether she has been walking, whether the tablets are being taken, what she has been pleased about. The way a family friend would tell you — not a dashboard.
She decides what reaches you.
Aika asks your mother, in plain words, whether what she says may be passed on. If she says no, it is not — you will still know the calls are happening and that she is well, but not what was said. She can change her mind on any call, and change it back.
This is the part most services skip. We think a companion your mother has not agreed to is not a companion.

Everything included. Cancel whenever you like by calling the same number — the service simply runs to the end of the month you have already paid for.
Nothing to install. She needs no smartphone, no app, and no internet — only the phone she already answers.
